Overview
An explorer you can run with two people.
Vela is a concept study for owners stepping up from sailing boats: a 28-metre explorer with trawler range, single-level living and systems simple enough for an owner-operator couple. No crew quarters the size of apartments — just honest capability.
We developed the concept to shipyard-tender level: hull lines with resistance estimates, full arrangement, exterior styling and a complete imagery set, so a yard can price it and an owner can picture summers aboard before committing to build.
Challenge
Capability without complexity.
Explorer yachts usually mean commercial-grade systems and full crews. Vela's challenge was keeping ocean-crossing range and redundancy while designing every system — handling, docking, maintenance — for two people to manage.
Approach
Sailor's logic, yacht comfort.
The deck plan borrows from bluewater sailing: clear side decks, a protected cockpit and everything reachable. Inside, the palette is pale oak, linen and brushed steel — a loft, not a lobby.
